With a bit of a tough year behind us and the loss of loved ones just two months prior still aching in our hearts, I decided to pull out all the stops this year for Christmas. So here we are, Christmas Eve in NYC, has arrived and I wanted to take a moment to share some of the holiday decorations around our home. It has taken about 4 years of collecting to build up our apartment to where it is now. We still have a lot of empty walls and an uncompleted guest room but I’m very proud of the space we’ve created. Especially after watching corners of our home, stay empty for months until we got the perfect piece.
We estimated it cost around $100 to deck our home out in holiday cheer and a lot of begging to family members for their discarded holiday decor. This year I decided to hunt down a string of pine garland. We displayed it around doorways and framed the bookshelf in our bedroom. We found the garland at a farm in upstate New York, $20 for 25 feet, and we bought our tree in the same place. These additions were very easy and made a huge difference.
Each room and corner has a different Christmas style inspiration. It’s a few parts Scandinavian with a bit of vintage mixed in. I’m sad to have to take it down soon to make room for the new year. There’s nothing I love more than snuggling up next to our Christmas tree and watching holiday movies. I hope everyone has a happy holiday snuggling next to their loved ones!
