A chocolate bowl is one of my favorite desserts to whip up when I’m looking to add a bit more flair to my dinner table. It’s so simple, elegant, and perfect for two. Another reason I’m in love is its versatility. Once the bowl is created, the filling possibilities are endless. Clotted cream, mousse, peanut butter, or ice cream would all make fantastic additions to your chocolate bowl.
½ cup of milk chocolate morsels
1 Butterfinger or Heath bar
½ cup mixed berries
Blow up your balloons to the desired bowl size, I like to make a smaller bowl personally, about 14 inches around. Make sure to wash your balloon and let it fully dry.
Either grab or make a double-boiler to melt the chocolate morsels.
To make a double-boiler, grab a heatproof ceramic bowl slightly larger than your pot. Fill a pot with water about ¼ of the pot deep, you don’t want the water to touch the heatproof bowl. Put the pot filled with water on the stovetop with the bowl sitting on top of the pot. Turn the burner to a mid to low heat.
At the 30-second mark, add the chocolate morsels to your double-boiler. Continue to mix the chocolate morsels consistently with a silicone spatula, they can easily burn. These will melt fairly quickly.
When morsels are fully melted remove the bowl from the heat and sir for 20 seconds.
Grab your inflated balloon and spray with butter, make sure it isn’t too saturated because it can be hard for the chocolate to stick.
Take your silicone spatula and spread your chocolate around the balloon up to the halfway mark. Make sure there are no parts where you can see through the chocolate to the balloon. You’ll want thick walls.
Stick your chocolate covered balloon to the plate you’ll want to serve it on and put it in the freezer for it to harden.
Let it sit for 1 hour then remove and pop your balloon with a safety pin in a few different places. Pull the balloon from the bowl slowly.
Put the mixed berries in the bowl finish with whipped cream and top with crushed Butterfingers for a delicious crumble on top.
