As we drove through the small Italian town that Antinori winery is nestled in, it was hard to prepare for the juxtaposition of the modern architectural marvel set against the modest country surroundings. Antinori has found a way to seamlessly integrate 635 years of tradition into this contemporary, luxury estate alongside its first female president, Albiera Antinori.
Only an hour outside of Florence, I was determined to try their highly-rated Super Tuscan, Tignanello, and what better way than to go straight to the source. Meghan Markle even named her now-defunct blog after their famous Super Tuscan. We enjoyed a tour throughout the winery with a small group, offering for a more intimate setting and ended with a tasting of 3 wines thoughtfully chosen by Antinori.
Architect, Marco Casamonti created a world in which one doesn’t ever want to leave. The surroundings and modern design help you emulate the feeling of living your best life while being supremely at peace. Casamonti was quoted as saying, “Respect nature, other people, differences, knowledge, citizens, life. If we lose the meaning of this important word, we lose the energy of architecture.” You can truly feel that energy within this space. He has respected the Tuscan surroundings by integrating his structure within nature, not apart from it.
We showed up early enough to allow for time to indulge in their second level restaurant that overlooks the surrounding Tuscan hills.
